Cooking… Risotto!

11 07 2008

Yeah, I know, you’re thinking “She can cook? I doubt it” well, I can! I can make pasta, cakes, cookies, muffins, honey soy chicken, mash potatoes and risotto!  Today I made pea and mushroom risotto…. because I crave it. Here’s a picture blog of the process!

Chop the garlic into minuscule bits.

Measure (not so correctly) 1/3 of a cup of risotto rice.

Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 teaspoons of butter into a pan until it gets hot.

Brown the garlic in the oil.

Then add the rice move it around (in the pan) until it absorbs most of the oil.

Add some stock (in my case mushroom and chicken).

Mix it around in the pan, wait for the rice to absorb 80% of the stock (aka gloggy in texture)

Add more stock.

Wait for it to absorb then repeat the stock adding and waiting process until the rice is fully cooked. In the mean time look out the window and realize it’s bin day or watch Dr Pill or chat to your mum on MSN maybe even chat on tFS.

When the rice is cooked and the stock has been absorbed 50% add a handful of peas.

Mix it around in the pan until the peas are cooked.

Plate it up!

And eat!

Now, whose doing the washing??
