Send out a SOS!

I have the swine flu!

No, luckily, I don’t, but I am quite sick. It started about 5 days ago when my throat started hurting and my nose was permanently block. The fever started yesterday and my parents immediately assumed I had the pig flu. All the signs (symptoms) pointed to it and my friend Marla just got back from the US(L.A. and Mexico) and we’ve been making up for missed time and sharing food etc. I was whisked off to the docs. A big collective sigh of relief could be heard when the test came back and turns out I only had the average cold. Well wasn’t that high paced and exciting?

I’ll do a little something on Romance was Born’s latest collection soon. Surprise, surprise, just a week after I said “Romance was Born isn’t my cup of tea” on Bianca (quietmilk)’s blog, my mind changes and I really liked it!

The May ‘09 I want list

28 04 2009

Oh it’s been so long since I’ve made one of these! I miss window shopping on the internet (net-a-porter and Bergdorfs to be specific).
Miu Miu thigh highs
The perfect winter leg warmer!
37126_in_dl
Wheels and Dollbaby ballet dress
I fell in love with this when my friend Lauren showed them to men and when I saw Amy wear it on ‘So you think you can dance’ I nearly died (in a good way)
ballet071
D&G chiffon shirt
Grungy and so ladylike at the same time, it looks so wearable.
38105_fr_l
Christian Louboutin clutch
Ok, so the clutch is ‘so so’ but the clasp is so cute! Look at it! It’s a pair of sky high pumps!
38860_fr_dl 38860_cu_dl
Roberto Cavalli frayed, ruffle front shirt
I adore this! Well I always have a cute shirt on my ‘want list’. I did end up getting one it china but I had a case of ‘shop mirror effect’ (it looks so good when you try it on at the shop and when you bring it home you think “What? Was I blind when I tried it on before?”).
39601_in_dl
Alice + Olivia bodysuit
I think I’m in love this, I’m not sure if it’ll suit me but I would love to style with this!
40775_in_l
Adidas by Stella McCartney
I’m going to start going to the gym as soon as it opens (no seriously, it doesn’t open until late may) and I’ll need gym stuff.
41048_in_dl
Celine ombré full skirt
Hmmmmmmmm If I can find similar fabric I would seriously make this!
41626_in_l
Celine plexi-glass belt
You don’t need an excuse to like this
38961_in_dl
Lanvin necklace
A great winter ‘pick-me-up’, that persimmon colour is actually one of the bright colours I would wear.
42484_in_l
Wolford stockings
I think the first one is like a cooler version of the Chanel ones. The second is just amazing.
d_2245 d_2228
Zac Posen dress
This is actually one of the very, very, very few dresses I liked from this collection.

39914_fr_dl1 39914_bk_dl

Christian Louboutin lace platforms
Pin-up goodness!

untitled1

Balmain studded blazer
I would never, ever wear it, in fear of getting it dirty and having to send it off to the dry cleaners. I don’t trust dry cleaners…

36964_in_dl

Bally t-bar, cross strap, peeptoes
-froths at the mouth- They look sssssssoooooooooooooooooooo good!

Hmm I’m gonna go to bed with a smile on my face. Ah.

Hi my name is Angela I’m on the study diet

26 04 2009

I think this is the most under-rated diet in the whole world, I’m sure pretty much anyone who has/wants a decent VCE (that’s SAT, GCSE, HSC, end of school exam etc. For the rest of you) has probably (possibly on a subconscious level) being on this diet.
Day 1
5:40am (or some other equally absurdly early hour): Wake up from an extraordinarily frightening dream where you get chased by the leaders of European countries in early 1910s asking you about the causes of World War One.
5:50am: Get up and start drafting up your essay
6:20-8:30am: Writes a really bad version of what would be your essay
8:32am: Realises how unbelievably shit your essay is and begs your mother to drive you to the train station and to go to the state library
9:20am: Arrives in the city, sees the library isn’t open for another 40 minutes.
9:20-10:00am: Walks(at a very fast pace, those who know me well knows that I ‘walk’ at the pace most people jog) around aimlessly, drinks a soy latte and an energy drink
10:00am-4:00pm: Writes and panics non stop
4:01pm: Realises your locker rental is about to end and you’re going blind from staring at the laptop screen
4:30-5:10pm: Writes as much as possible on the train home
5:30-8:00pm: Crashes on the couch
8:00-9:00pm: Binges on leftovers and junk food, hangs head over toilet bowl but doesn’t vomit because your stomach refuses to hold on so you give up and showers
9:00-10:45pm: Tries to write but realises that you can only think about World War One for so many hours a day
11:00pm: sleeps
Day 2
7:10am: Wakes up
7:30am: Goes to the kitchen, take a bite of bacon and has some serious thoughts of vegetarianism (binging and lack of sleep does something weird to your appetite)
8:00am-1:09pm: Writes and complains on MSN about writing
1:10pm: Refuses lunch on the basis that if I get out of the chair I’ll lose focus
1:11-3:14pm: Writes and the horrific period cramps start
3:15-3:45pm: Does about 10 sets of each abdominal exercise I can think of
3:46pm: Takes panadols
3:47-5:17pm: Continues writing and finishes the essay
5:18pm: Realises the last two days were epic and decides to weigh self
5:19pm: Is 2kgs lighter
5:20pm-7:00pm: Continues on with normal life
7:30pm: Puts weight back via eating like a caveman

PS. ahah what a pointless post. I’ll post something better shortly.

“Is that your crotch or your stocking crotch?”

24 04 2009

Oh, the things school girls ponder on when they’re bored and it’s raining outside. Today, after me and my friend Marla kept on seeing people continuously pull up their black school uniform tights we couldn’t help but wonder why they make those essential ‘intimates’ so uncomfortable? Why do such simple things that provide us with such… convenience and variety cause us so much trouble? Not to mention the horrid times when you ladder your tights when pulling them because you have nails! Oh I’ve had my fair share; awkwardly pulling them up in lifts and then someone comes in and look at you funny, paranoia over whether people can see your stocking crotch because they’re so low and your skirt’s so short, and my latest, buying stockings in bulk while in china and realising they’re ‘Asian sized’, it’s kina racist but I’m Asian and I know it’s true, the sizing is like that of ‘Target tween section’, I can get them past my thighs and up to my waist but the crotch just refuses to go any higher than my knees. So it leaves me wanting to go into the splits position or do grand jetés (Oh, but I can, really!)

I’ve been on the search for ‘the perfect pair of black opaque tights’ for ages (4 years to be specific; ever since I’ve had to wear them as a part of my school uniform) and there have only been two types that I think are quite reasonable.

1.       Coles brand ‘Opaque everyday tights’ two pack for $10! They are actually really good quality for the price and you don’t have to do the “buy-them-in- extra-tall-so-the-crotch-won’t-fall-to-your-ankles” thing, I’ve been wearing the medium size for 2 years now (not the same pair) and the only downside is they don’t have a very good re-enforced toe, so after about 2 weeks you can see the beginning of a small hole (but that’s just me, I go to school and spend a lot of the time doing stupid things like have races up the Parliament Station escalators and 5km walks just because “Mehh, why not?”) and has only a 2 ’pulls-per-day’ average

2.       Wolford polar fleece lined, velvet feel stockings, ok so I don’t know the real name but blahh it feels velvety and I’m pretty sure I saw the words “polar fleece’” when I was searching for pictures for my next “I want list” on the website. They are of ‘Wolford’ quality, are 99% opaque and they feel pretty amazing (like’ you-want- to- feel-your-own-legs-every-second-of-the-day’ amazing). But there are a few downsides; the price- $40, they have a higher ‘pull-per-day”-4 and because I’m in love with them so much I’ve been wearing them so much they’ve started ‘fluffing’, there are occasional white balls of fluff that appears from day to day wear and I sit there on the tram and start picking at them without realising and more appear!

School frustration

21 04 2009

Second day, of the second term, of the 10th year of my school life; horrible and gruling as usual. I’m a bit behind with homework and procrastinating as usual too. But today, I had a rather scary and unusal occurence (no, it wasn’t the ANZAC parade rehearsal with MHS). I was on my way home on the bus (tweeting of course!) and I suddenly notice something weird and boxy underneath my lower thigh, I ’scooched’ a bit and saw a unopened packet of Marlboro Lights, cellophane wrapper still intact. As you no I’m very anti smoking and brushed the packet under the seat, to my surprise (well no, not really) and disgust a scruffy (possibly homeless man), suddenly jumped out of his seat and crawled under my seat (luckily I had 100% opaque tights on and my legs were crossed), grabbed the packet and said “ha”. I just sat there with my Asian eyes open as wide as they could and screamed silently. My second instinct was to twitter about it (haha), kinda sad.

I probably won’t have time to blog tomorrow as I have V.E.T. class and heaps of homework so I’ll just tell you now. Watch out for our school’s performance of various songs at the ANZAC day parade on thursday  on the news!

PS. If any of my teachers/coordinators are reading this, no, I did not leave school looking like this. In fact up to until I was getting my camera out, I had my top button done up and tie properly knotted.

How not to wear Louboutin Mad Marys

See, I wasn’t going to post this, and instead do a little something on ‘usless but drool worthy shit’, but I’m just not in the mood. I’m not feeling well and everything’s a bit blahh and I had so much fun taking these pictures to not post them, and I’m having the same problem with this dress, I love it but have not had a chance to wear it… -sigh-

PS. thanks for the lovely comments on the previous post.

Louboutin Mad Marys:

I’ve had them for 4 months and I’ve only worn them once ( to L’oreal Melb Fashion Fest.), they are soo beautiful I can’t bear to wear them ‘just going out’. So I had a bit of a styling session with myself and picked out some ensembles.

In the works

15 04 2009

Well right now I’m busy occupying myself with:

- a new banner for ASAB

- a new banner for Angela Yang Designs

- a feature post about my Louboutins

- a post on useless things

- a ‘I want’ list for May (gosh, it’s been 6 months since the last one)

- my pop art project

- my holiday assignments and homework

- and last but not least, I’ designing again! WOhhh yeah! I started on some peices a few weeks ago but it was like pulling teeth out of a hen (for those of you who don’t understand: hen don’t have teeth) and now the creativity is flowing.

- brainstorming for some posts for may (model extraviganza?)

Yeah, so keep posted.
