I TOLD YOU SO!

First of all, to get it all out of the way here’s today’s outfit:

Blue wool cape: Banuer

Skirt: Sportsgirl

Tights: Voodoo

Mary Jane pumps: Bon Bon

Drink: My studying secret! Kiwi, apple and grape juice.

I took a break from studying today and went with my mum to our local Priceline to stock up on some toiletries and get some books from out local library (FYI.I borrowed some Jane Green chick lits, a new Trinny and Susannah book and ‘high-fashion sewing secrets’) On the way I popped into our local bargain/op shop. I’m usually a really bad impulse shopper and it didn’t help that I have $20 burning a hole in my purse. I am forever envious of Lady Melbourne, Fashion Hayley and Super Kawaii Mama’s op shopping skills. I’m sure I’ve said (on ASAB) that I’m not that good when it comes to op shopping. I picked up these for $9. They were all unworn with tags attached ( I think one of the reasons why I don’t do so well in op shops is because I’m a bit of a germaphob).
White, classic, princess seam dress

Plain black skirt (I know I can easily make this but I can never stick to ‘just’ making something ‘plain and simple’)

black skirt

White and green tee (URHGGG it’s so lame isn’t it? I want it as either P.Js or maybe chop the top part and wear it as a skirt?)

green white tee

I’m so not ever going to a op shop alone. Maybe I should ask Lady Melbourne to accompany me. But then again, we might have to fight over the pieces.

Swine flu hits closer to home

30 05 2009

Urhg studying for a subject I hate is so frustrating! I can’t concentrate at all! I mean, do you care about what the synchrotron is? But I know I need to at least get a M because I don’t want to be a complete failure.

I’ve subscribed to ’swine flu melbourne’ google alerts and so far my computer has been beeping non-stop. It really is hitting so much closer to home now. First of all, last week my great aunt was flying back to china after a holiday here and on that flight(sitting 3 rows in front of her) was the soon to be ‘Shanghai’s first case of H1N1, so now she’s in quarantine. During this week all I have been hearing is “so and so has swine flu” or “my old school has been shut down because of swine flu” but I’ve been dismissing them as just rumours. I don’t really mind too much that my area has the biggest concentration of H1N1 victims, after all they would be under house quarantine.

But about12 hours ago I received an alert that said “Melbourne High School student tested possitive to swine flu“.  Although I didn’t attend the Melbourne High social, about 70% of my year level did!  Several Melbourne Girls’ College girls also went to the social and there’s been 4 cases of swine flu as well. I was attendance monitor on Thursday and most classes had about 8 or 9 students absent (really quite rare for my school). In period 5 yesterday we all received a letter addressing the H1N1 virus. I hope there will be more details in Monday’s Assembly, but despite out wishes, exams won’t be postponed because of it.
