So after taking pictures of my sewing room for Yoke Magazine and an email request from a reader who would like to see my sewing room I decided to take a new few pictures. I didn’t clean/tidy the room especially for the photos, by the way, I always like to have a clean, tidy workspace. Some call it OCD, I call it common sense.
I don’t think the pictures do my room justice, the panorama setting on my camera s a little whacked. Like any sewing room, it has a sewing machine. But the thing is, this room also serves as a lounge room for me and a spare room for guests. So I can’t completely ‘deck it out’ like Lady Melbourne’s sewing room, nor do I have 2 machines, oh, how I wish I could have 2 machines! But what I do have is an abundance of is fabric. Unused fabric and so much of it! I spend so many of my afternoons(after school) at Lincraft and Clegs and I very rarely come out empty handed. Maybe it’s because I’m too preoccupied with procrastination, but I never actually use the fabric! I impulse buy, I see a roll I like and my automatic reaction is to pick it up, go to the register and get a meter of it. Without thinking about what I’m actually make out of it. Or I design something and over estimate how much I need. And that’s how I end up with this:
Notice now I have patterns? I’ve gotten off my high horse and stocked up on some basics.
So that’s it, that’s my sewing room, where most of my creativity takes place!
