The little black skirt

We’ve all heard about the importance of a ’little black dress’ but for me the ‘little black skirt’ is just equally important. Think about the things you could pair it with; a plain white shirt for a sleek, streamlined look, a sheer, black blouse for a sexy, vampy look, or a sequined tank for a more of a fun look. I’ve been playing with ’LBS’ designs for quite some time now and could never really settle for a silhouette or fabric. I finally settled on making two skirts!
This is a petticoat style skirt. It’s kinda fun, youthful for the dreaded summer.
This I’ve had in my head for ages! It’s a 80s/90s ‘double skirt’. I never thought I could pull the tighter style off but I look better than I imagined. It’s a little ‘snug’ but I’m using it as ‘thinsipration’, so I can wear this and bend down without fear of the seam bursting or zipper coming undone (BTW the zipper’s actually white for contrast and a bit of fun)
So, have you got a ‘little black skirt’?

PS. Sorry about the quality of the first picture, I was trying to sharpen it up on photoshop because it was very blurry. If any of you know how to focus a picture while it’s on self timer, please, do share!

Nice work.. I think I had both of those in 1988!! Whoops. Looking forward to seeing you work them in Spring ASAB style.
.. Oh I should add that that was me.. SKM!
I LOVE the second one. Want to make one for me? x
the second skirt made my heart skip a beat
great skirts! I do have a couple LBS but don’t wear them much really.
about the self timer. do you have your camera set on a tripod?
also, girl, do you have a shutter release cable?? you NEED one! http://www.uxsight.com/product/4670/promaster-deluxe-camera-metal-lock-covered-shutter-release-cable.html
it works for both SLR’s and digital ones. you put it in the little screw hole on top and then you can release the shutter whenever you want. I have the short one that came with my AE1 and then got a 12ft one for self portrait shoots. they are not expensive, at least in Canada.
good luck.

@Nuffnang/SKM Thanks I think I might try and keep the looks simple, you know? Warmer weather = minimalistic
@Kat sure, if you have a spare $50-60
@ Michelle gosh hope it was just one beat, I’m not one for mouth2mouth resuscitation. XD
@FF Thanks! But will they actually make the images clearer?
I love love love both skirts!! You have talent girl! I would pay you in a heartbeat for either one
And I completely and wholeheartedly agree with you on the summer post. I hate the heat during the day and the lack of clothing options

hi angela
as long as you have your camera on a tripod for stability, a shutter release for more stability when shooting, and you have your camera on Auto or the adequate manual settings (don’t know if you have a manual or digital camera), then you shouldn’t have problems of that kind. sometimes your focus may have shifted while setting up the camera. just check all the settings including the lens for focus, use tripod and shutter release and you should be ok.

Ahaha! My “LBS” is my school skirt since I wear it 5 times a week, kidding, sort of.
Well I believe every girl must have a basic black gathered, because it’s fun, youthful and still basic and chic without being boring, but yours are SO much cooler Angela!
The second one is truly amazing! You are crazy talented!
Tonight I will be able to sleep well.
Love, Blaire. xx (Your crazy comment stalker that truly means well.)
Lovely skirts! you are very talented!
@honsandrebels thank you very much
They’re both swell but I love the second one especially (cute ruffles)!
So good to see you made that gorgeous 90′s look skirt! Nice work!
@penelope Thanks!
