Style doesn’t have a ‘sick day’

Despite the fact that I feel like a lump of turd I still had to venture into the city at in insanely early hour of the morning to hand my Geography assignment in and getting my password changed for my school email. I was seriously considering putting my uniform back on but decided it probably isn’t a good idea to smell like dirty laundry. So, I faced my wardrobe with one mantra “look presentable, you never know who you’ll bump into” (yes, I live in hope I’ll bump into an Melbournian “blog-lebrity”).
Blue layered top: Lovelygirl
Tiered skirt: My own designs
Black pumps: Christian Louboutin
Rose cardigan: MNG
Tortoise shell sunglasses: Thrifted
Bow headband: My own design
I’m kind of cheating here since I wore flats for most of the time (my loubs were in my bag while I walked on the soggy grass on my way to school) and I had to take my headband off while it was raining.
Wish me well.

More headbands!

What better to do on a lazy afternoon than to listen to The Postal Service and make headbands on the front porch?
Double Layered bow headband
Red Velvet bow headband with embelishment
Champagne flower headband with pink net
Blue/green silk bow and tulle headband
Blue/green silk bow headband with veil
I am never taking this off! I look about 5 years old here…
If I get enough requests, I might make and sell more of these (but don’t get your hopes up too high, I don’t have paypal or even an etsy. Express your interest in the comments of this post, they’ll probably be around $30 + postage (I know, I know, but think about it from my perpective! The minimum for most fabric is usually half a metre and everything is hand sewn).
I was pretty annoyed getting glared at because I was somewhat ‘dressed up’ at the RMI waiting room.
Square neck shirt: Alivegirl
Foil lace skirt: My own design
Leather bag: Vintage
Dragonfly earrings: My own design
Bangles: Gifted
Watch: Blue Satin
Quilted leather belt: No brand, found it at a sale bin
Satin pumps: RMK

A friend to all is a friend to none

That’s what I’ve learnt this week. Although you try and try to please everybody, you can’t make someone like you or sometimes you just drift a part. So, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. There’s nothing better than spending a day with your friends, laughing uncontrollably down the street, eating real Italian food at Pellegrinis, and spending hours at the bead shop to make you forget about the horrid week you’ve had. It’s probably not very interesting giving you a play by play so let the picture speak a thousand words.
It’s probably been ages since I’ve worn flats on a weekend, and it felt weird, not hearing that ‘click click’ when you walk down the street (or have blisters when you get home).

T-shirt: Giordano
Black blazer: Lovelygirl
Floral skirt: My own design
Tights: Lavante
Bow flats: Joy&Happiness
Clutch bag: My mum’s/vintage(?)
Velvet headband: My own design
Bauble necklack: China
“Boredom is talent wasted” I saw this on a motivational website and immediately motivated me, so I made some ear rings from the trinkets I picked up from the bead shop. I’ve never really been an ‘earring’ person, I mainly stick to studs and pearls but I just couldn’t resist these adorable little cuties.

Also, here’s a little teaser of some of the headbands you’ll see in the coming weeks:

How was your weekend dears?

Best of S/S10

Best of New York:
Jason Wu, so feminine, so chic, and most importantly it was relevant and wearable!
Zac Posen, yes the colours could potentially burn your retinas but the cutting was divine…
Marchesa, who doesn’t love Marchesa? It is the creme de la creme of formal wear.
Best of Milan:
Moschino, it was classic but not bland. The accessories were adorable, and that pearl embellished boucle jacket made my heart melt like butter on warm toast (sorry, just watched ‘confessions of a shopaholic’ BTW such a crap, stereotypical movie)
Versace, it got me actually excited about summer, need I say more?
Dolce and Gabbana. Three words, wow, wow, wee! Sexy and retro, but ignor the shoes, oh please ignore the disgustig shoes.
Best of Paris:
Lanvin, sculptural, feminine, all out pure Lanvin!
Christian Dior, I know I didn’t review this collection but I did love it, really, I did! Galliano added a dash sportif to his usual sexy concoctions. The delicate slip dresses paired with the trench coats were so divine.
Valentino, again, I didn’t review it but this collection has rekindled my love for valentino. There was just something so stunningly beautiful about the ruffled semi opaque organza and gothic black lace.
Who were your favourites?

What would you wear to the races?
October 6, 2009 § 8 Comments
Ok, I’m not too fond of horses but… come on guys, as if it’s actually about the horses, it’s just another excuse to dress up! As a loyal Nuff Nang-er and fan of the Melbourne GPO, I’m entering their competition for opportunity to win a 2 hour shopping experience at the GPO with your favourite blogger! I obviously would have loved to be selected as a judge as ‘one of the favourite bloggers’ but hey, if I win I would get $500 to spend, and who doesn’t love $500?!
So far I have no plans to go to the spring racing carnival so this is just some forward thinking:
Cape: My own design
Dress: My own design
Clutch: My own design
Headband: My own design
Necklace (sort of hidden): Funqi
Shoes: Christian louboutin
Wish me luck, I’d love to spend 2 hours shopping at GPO with the lovely Fashion Hayley!
