Jewels

29 11 2009

I’ve never really been a big jewellery/accessory person, not because I don’t have jewellery, but because I always forget to wear it or it’s too much of a hassle. Lately I’ve been adding small things like rings and brooches to things and to be honest it just didn’t feel right. So while on bed rest I started making my own jewellery to add to my collection (you might remember a few pages back I made some earrings).

First up, this pendant necklace with tea cup, half a best friend charm and a flower heart charm

Hand Painted glass bead pendant

Strings of irregular pearls

Black bead button bracelet, irregular pear bracelet, vintage look bead bracelet

Now I’ve got quite a collection of jewellery, now here’s to hoping I’ll wear them.

Sick…

27 11 2009

This was actually written on wednesday morning and I thought I’d posted it but clearly something went wrong, I’m actually better now and normal blogging will resume soon. But I thought I’d post it anyway to keep you guys updated. So, around this time every year I get hit with some sort of medical related drama. Last year, I found out I had scoliosis, the year before I had a very strange form of conjunctivitis and like clockwork, I’m sick again. But this times it’s more of a mental->physical problem. It all started with an anxiety attack, which lead to increased bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching) and now I’ve got a case TMJD (locked, sore jaw). Instead of just staying home and resting I went to school speech night, worn out and tired (Ok, I just wanted to be there to sing ‘thank you for the music’ to the head of music who’s leaving at the end of this year) and I had another anxiety attack in front of… too many people. Long story short, I’m going to be taking it easy for the next few days and hopefully back at school for KK, I bought my KK a really great present! Speaking of presents, I’ve already started wrapping and making some, I know it’s early but that just means they’ll be wrapped impeccably.

Elegant affairs

22 11 2009

Yesterday I attended Lady Melbourne’s party to celebrate her landing the cover of Peppermint magazine(which is a fabulous read BTW).

Lady Melbourne

There were champagne (we may or may not have had a glass, Lisa thought it was like ‘fizzy goon’, I say ‘SHUN THE NON BELIEVER’), green cupcakes, and peppermint tea, I coincidentally wore green too! Me and my plus one, Lisa hadn’t really mastered the art of mingling but we had a fabulous time anyway. Lady Melbourne is so inspiring and dished some great career advice.

Afterwards we had a late lunch at Laurent where we talked about our future, marriage, parents, boys, sex and the city, gossip girl- you know? All the typical teenagey stuff.

I must say, Lisa’s pretty good at catching great ‘in the moment’ photographs and Parliament station became a great backdrop.

Imitation is not flattery

21 11 2009

Ahhh so it was a blissful morning of eating sticky date cupcakes and dancing to Bad Romance UNTIL I WAS INFORMED THAT SOMEONE HAD COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF MY BLOG POST! Compare the pair;  Her post ,  my original post.  Everything is identical, the pictures even link to their original link and there is no credit to me what-so-ever. Daydream Lily informed me it was one of those blogs ”that read others RSS feeds into their blog”, that I don’t mind, at least ask me and give me the full crefit! Great way to ruin a saturday morning *BEEP*

And this is why I tag all my photos!

PS. thanks Rhonda for tipping me off.

RIP Daul Kim

20 11 2009

Model Daul Kim was found dead in Paris this morning, her agents at Next confirm. “She was a top model and a great friend to all of us at Next. Please respect her family’s privacy at this time of sadness. We will all miss her very much,” they said in a statement. The cause of death remains unknown at this time, but a source tells the Cut the 20-year-old committed suicide – NY mag; read more here

This is so sad, Daul was a style icon to many and she was also the writer of “I like to fork myself” She’ll be greatly missed.

Victoria’s secret package-christmas comes early

19 11 2009

No more than a week ago I ordered some stuff from Victoria’s Secret with my mum’s dear friend Sabrina, on my receipt it said I would arrive around the 11th of December, perfect for Christmas right? Imagine my surprise when this massive brown box of love, rainbows and unicorns arrived at the front door. It is no less than 70×70x50 and weighed 8 kgs.

I am so excited! Everything fits so perfectly and I was pleasantly surprised by how fast it got here! And look at the cute flower detail on the ruffle undies!

Now, uh… who’s gonna clean up the mess?

PS. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show taping will happen tonight in NYC.

Ga ga ga Gossip girl

17 11 2009

I apologise a head of time for those who aren’t fans of Gossip girl, my gossip girl gossip buddy, Phoebe has been absent from school and everyone else is either a)not a fan of the show or b) behind, I have to off load here.

After a few weeks of ignoring gossip girl because of exams, speech night stuff, end of school rush I’m falling in love again after catching up from episode 5 of season three to the current episode.*spoilers ahead* The plot is really heating  up again with a threesome, and the cotillion (am I the only person who thought the threesome was a pretty good idea/twist?). The music is just so superb, I’ve always loved music from Gossip Girl – not only OMFGG but all the music in it! 2 of my favourite songs right now are from the show; Anya Marina’s cover of  rapper TI’s ‘whatever you like’  and Miike Snow’s ‘animals’  . I never thought I’d say this but I’m starting to get sick of Blair Waldorf, her ‘games’ with Chuck and her power struggle with well…pretty much everyone, is getting old, and I hate Jenny per usual. On the other hand, Serena (who I previously hated) is getting less irritating and her style is improving slightly. Which brings me to the fashions on the show, ahh with Jenny as ‘Queen’ Constance has gone from school girl chic to…uh… I don’t know but I don’t like it, Jenny needs to put some pants on, or the Parents Council will be complaining about fanny flashing!

gossipgirlinsider

Anyone else think wearing BLACK to cotillion/debutante ball is wrong? I know you don’t have to wear white but come on! A light colour!

gossipgirlinsider

I am really looking forward to this week’s episode, the aftermath of the threesome and lady gaga’s going to be on ( doing what I don’t know, but hopefully NOT show her disco stick).

Jimmy Choo 72

13 11 2009

I recently received an email from Jimmy Choo about this photo competition:

“Jimmy Choo and Elton John AIDS Foundation have launched a photo competition to support the launch of Project PEP, a charity collection that donates 25% of sales to the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa. The money goes towards providing the HIV-preventative treatment PEP (which must be taken within 72 hours of exposure to HIV) and counselling to victims of rape in South Africa, which has the highest count of rape in the world. The theme of the photo competition is ‘you, your shoes and 72′. On offer is a Grand Prize of the ultimate Jimmy Choo VIP experience – the winner will be invited to spend a day of luxury and the Jimmy Choo HQ and choose 7 pairs of shoes and 2 handbags to keep. Plus over 100 exclusive Jimmy Choo prizes will also be awarded.”

Although my entry isn’t all that impressive, I encourage everyone to get behind this great campaign and support Project PEP!
