More jersey magic and some OTT love!

With the left over metre of my new favourite fabric, black jersey I decided to make a form fitted skirt, inspired by the (possibly Herve Leger) one worn by Lara Stone in Brazil. Well to put it frankly; not really, I just saw it and thought “Hey, I need a nice plain black skirt, has to be form fitting but also has to hide my unfortunate saddle bags, ah! Side peplums! Double side peplums!”
I’m not usually a bra flasher but I recently got myself some fabulous Pleasure State Couture lingerie and it’s so gorgeous and ornate I just couldn’t resist!
I would like to thank darling porcelain blonde for passing on the Over The Top award me this me. Who I can’t wait to catch up with when my homework’s done and schedules are cleared.
23. Your life? Will hopefully be full of 5,7, 8, 12, 15, 16 and 22.
And I’m passing it on to

Oh Karl, how you never seize to amaze me! I was shocked when I got word that the show wasn’t at the Grand Palais, as far as I’m concerned some of his best has been shown at the Grand Palais and anything shown anywhere else was shit (Pre-Fall in ShangHai, Cruise at the Venice Lido, Pre-Fall in I dunno, Russia?) but this collection was just spendid! From the little embellished short-suits, to the draped, light dresses with crystal sprinkled neckline and every sherbet pastel, frou frou cocktail dress in between! But the same couldn’t be said for the shoes, hair and stockings, let’s start on the hair, some kind of weird bride, bride of frankenstein puff with grey streaks (again reminding me of Daphne Guinness) and bangs, the shoes weird odd, silvery, concoctions with baubles and the stockings, oh dear the stockings, wet looks -shudders-. My true Aussie pride came out the day after Australia day when I found out Abbey Lee Kershaw was the bride! And only a tiny bit annoyed that it wasn’t darling Lara Stone, who’s actually getting married soon…

Galliano has done it again! Another picture perfect couture collection. Evoking a very strong sense of dare I say it; old hollywood glamour and dripping in rich, delicious hues of red, cream, maroon and royal blue. Although the first few looks were a little too equestrienne/ Mary Poppins/Daphne Guinness for my liking, the overall collection has incredible editorial potential.”Karlie Kloss walking as if she were a thoroughbred dressage pony herself” -style.com. Ohh my deary, I can so see that, poor Karlie and her walk. I’m not even going comment on the whole Tavi-being-front-row-at-the-show-thing, but lets just say her hat is the least of my worries.

Basic is best

After making my jersey bandage dress I wanted to created another dress that is simple, comfortable and at the same time elegant. I played with several ideas before settling on a draped dress with a slight ruffle hem and a little touch of lace at the back.
You might have seen me tweet quite a bit lately about ‘the snood’, no, not the crocheted headwear worn by women to keep their hair back as Super Kawaii Mama thought (though I agree, traditional snoods should make a come back too), but the scarf-hood! Or circle scarf as some call it. My mum was quite eager to knit me a snood and since I know she’s a fabulous knitter (but she never finished things) + I was keen on getting my hands on one before winter starts, I let her knit away! Lucky me, she finished it within 4 days! Even though it’s the middle of summer, I still wore a snood today.
In other news, wanna take a jab at what Marla gave me?
How about now?
Oh yes, it is what you think it is! Isn’t it adorable?

Catching on to Balmainia
January 19, 2010 § 9 Comments
I use to be so stubborn about shoulder pads, studs and anything associated with Christophe Decarnin’s Balmain, I could barely tolerate them. But after persistently seeing the look season after season, one can only succumb to the powers of the bold shoulder. I’d been thinking about this project since before christmas but it always got pushed to the bottom of my to-do list since it’s not really ‘my style’ and nor could I find the right fringing/shoulder pads. But I got a little push when I was doing a leisurely browse at Lincraft thinking about what to spend my gift card on (no seriously, a lady accidentally pushed me while I was looking at bias binding and I stumbled a little and landed right in front of these lace shoulder pads). Next came the fringing, I had to avoid anything that closely resembled hair or anything that’ll make me look too Sargent Pepper. Last but not least, the T-shirt, I tried it with some of my own Ts but to really complete the look, it has be sort of sheer. It took me 14 websites and 2 shopping centers to finally turn to good ‘ol Kmart, my last option before Bassike and guess what? They had the exact t-shirts I wanted with the prices seriously slashed down!
I’ve had these pants for a long time, but I never wore them because they were oddly/unflatteringly flared, it didn’t cross my mind until Friday night that I could take them in and make them skinny pants o.O

But I am going to be the first to admit even after all that I’m still not sure if I’ll wear it much, it’s nice but not really my look, it’ll be nice to have it in my wardrobe though ha ha!
Yesterday,
I went casual and it wasn’t even Friday!

Model musing: Lara Stone
January 13, 2010 § 8 Comments
I use to hate everything about Lara, her gappy teeth, boobs, face, lips, that annoyed look she always has, and her walk. In fact, I had a nickname for her, Lara Stoner, because she always had that pissed, blank look on her face. But something happened 3 nights ago, something very strange… I was watching the Chanel S/S10 video and she came out at the end with Baptiste (and Freja too, they make quite the ménage à trois) and she just looked so gorgeous, I was intrigued! So I did what I always do with my model obsessions, read their topics on TFS, I went through 100 pages and by the end I was converted. I began to love everything, the teeth, the angry teen look, the walk and yes, even the twins (well they’re out in pretty much every editorial so they’re kinda hard to ignore…)!

She’s not just pretty but also freaking hilarious! She has a cute lisp and an accent.
And she packs quite a punch (Vogue UK Dec 09)
She eats “If I could have the discipline to be super-skinny, I would be. I think of dieting, then I eat pizza. I’m a woman, and every woman wants to be skinnier — unfortunately.”
On going topless all the time “Everyone’s seen them. My girlfriends love them — they play with them!”
Has guy problems (but she’s currently dating David Walliams from Little Britain)“Men don’t like me. I haven’t been on a date for six months. I’ve just started a club with a girlfriend called the We Hate Men But We Can’t Be Gay Club.”
Pushed a certain Belgian model down some stairs *cough* Hanne! (if anyone has pictures of this please please send them or link them! “I kept saying ‘Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me,’ because I had to get to the catwalk, but she just kept posing. So I pushed her. It was only a few stairs.”
Not to mention how much Carine Roitfeld loves her, there’s a edition of Paris Vogue, dedicated to Lara. She’s also rumoured to appear in Lady gaga’s Alejandro video too!
