Marchesa Fall Winter ’10

February 22, 2010 § 6 Comments

Marchesa is always so gorgeous; miles of flowing tulle, lace, silk. Drenched in feminine glamour, sex appeal, with a touch of eccentricity. The shapes are always flamboyant and full of intricate detail. Obviously this collection was no different but the photography, lighting, hair and make up was a HUGE let down. It literally looked like ‘the morning after’ all we need was a ‘shoes-in-hand-fumbling-with-the-keys-at-6-am’ moment to compliment it, and the lighting is so incredibly unflattering. But again, the garments are splendid, this is the stuff that dreams are made of.

As I write this, I have 5 hours of being 15 left. I never like birthdays, they make me feel ‘unaccomplished’, I say the same thing each year, 16 comes with so many expectations like;

-sweet 16 parties, I’m having a very low key event with my closest friends.

-being able to get your leaner’s permit, I don’t want to drive

Most are under the impression I’m 15 going on 25? Although I dress older, I don’t actually really want to be any older, I still thoroughly enjoy people’s faces when I tell them I’m that I’m only 15. But it’s inevitable… so always look on the bright side of life! Presents! These lovely jewels are from my parents, after a unsuccessful run in at Tiffany’s we decided to go to Swarovski and A&C.

I actually really wanted a Paloma Picasso for Tiffany’s cross but the store on Collins St didn’t have them! This Swarovski cross is equally as elegant.

Thanks mum and dad! 15, I’ll miss you, so much, we had so much fun together, hopefully 16 will be amazing!

Alexander Wang FW10

February 15, 2010 § 3 Comments

I had high expectations for Wang ( this is especially for you marla/muchie ” WOW WOW IT’S WANG”). After learning to love the ways of Alexander and his ‘girls’ I was ready for a spectacularly mind blowing collection packed with “WOW WOW IT’S WANG” (for those who don’t know, had  that title splashed out on their homepage and coincidentally Marla walked past and said “What kind of Wang?”) and sadly I want left in a puddle of sweat, nervous, confused, scared sweat… I did not understand the intersection of office wear and underwear, the pinstripes mixed with lace, weird bootleg sock/pant type things and the dissected blazers. But I loved the girlie draped, pleated dresses and I totally would dig the shoes/boots if I had the legs. Oh and I would like to praise the casting person/team, Natalia Vodianova opened and closed, all the classic ‘Wang girls’ were there; Natasha Poly, Liu Wen, Aggy D and Anja Rubik!

Lace and foil

So, NYFW is off to a kickin’ start according to all the tweets! And I can’t wait to jump in and review them but everything on is fairly blah right now (Yeah I know there are more websites to look at other than but we’ve become so close, I feel like a trader whenever I’m on the other vogue websites). I’m sure those who are following me on twitter would have heard/seen the crazy storm that hit Melbourne (and Sydney), I was completely drenched, even with an umbrella! I had to buy a pair of thongs/flip flops because my school shoes and socks were soaked, first time I’ve worn thongs off the beach in a good 2-3 years. Check out these twitpics:

Lauren, standing in streetfilth!

Brave soul that Imelda captured.

Luckily the weather has settled to a nice 25 degrees celsius, perfect for today’s outfit:

Oh and look what Lauren gave me after a day of listening to me complain about how I couldn’t go to the Taylor Swift concert?

RIP Alexander McQueen

Alexander/ Lee Mcqueen was today found dead in is home in London. It is so incredibly sad, he had talent of epic proportions and was such an innovator. His armadillo shoes, skull scarves, knuckle clutch and ‘out of the square’ collections will be remembered. Rest in peace, he will be missed greatly.

Scent love

February 8, 2010 § 9 Comments

Being 15, it’s pretty hard to pin down your ‘signature scent’ so on the weekend I set out to buy some more perfumes for my ‘scent wardrobe’. I couldn’t just run into a department store and sniff every perfume, I did quite a bit of research based on perfumes and other scents that I love, ie. Miss Dior Cherie, MJ Daisy, Lancome Poeme, Ralph by Ralph Lauren and various Victoria’s Secret body sprays. Turns out I favour gourmand(food and dessert related) and Chypre (citrus and moss) fragrances with a patchouli base note and strong disliking  for Oriental scents or anything too musky. I made a list and very soon I returned with CKIN2U (I’ve loved in2u ever since it came out in 2007, I had a bottle but I left it in China), Gucci by Gucci (the ad, Natasha poly, Raquel zimmerman and freja beha, need I say more?) and Juicy Couture (Hate their track suits but this perfume is just amazing, do you believe in love at first sniff?).

Packaging/the bottle is  important for me too, one of the reasons why I love Miss Dior Cherie so much is the super cute glass bottle with a silver bow and MJ Daisy with the rubber daisies. I love the Juicy and Gucci bottles but CKIN2U is boring but I already knew that and it doesn’t matter!

Hehe a little family, I share some of it with my mum. I think Eau Mega by Victor and Rolf, Flora by Gucci another bottle of Miss Dior Cherie are next!

Cut out tank: Valleygirl circa 2006

Grey skirt: My own design

Lace jacket: My mum’s

Polka dot pumps: So old, can’t remember…

Brooch: Present

Bow: My own design
