Romp and stomp!

October 29, 2010 § 17 Comments

FINALLY exams are over and I am ecstatic! I have 2 weeks of extra holidays before speech night and year 12 orientation and I’m going to use that time to finally sketch up and sew some new designs. My fabric draws are overflowing and so is my creativity, I promise to show the sketches as soon as I finish them. But right now all I have to show is an outfit. I’ve started wearing smaller bangles under my clear plastic one and creates a really interesting effect, also I found an old key and put it on my  tea cup necklace, kinda weird and cute!Romper: Sash and rose, altered by me
Jacket: My own design
Socks: Holeproof
Mary janes: Louboutin
Necklace: My own design
Scarf: Bargain
Bracelets and watch: Online/gifted
A large percent of Melbourne has cup fever! For my overseas readers, the Melbourne cup is a horse race and it’s sort of a big occasion for people to dress up for a day out, show off some nice headwear (though some think of it as the perfect chance to wear clubbing clothes in broad day light – never really flattering, get smashed and stammer home with heels in their hands). Normally interesting facinators, big bows and feathered concoctions would be my hat wear of choice but think this year (if I go, but I won’t unless I get into a marque) this mini straw hat given to me by Lisa would be my preference. It’s a simple piece and wouldn’t pose as a health hazard for anyone within a 1 meter radius.
Also, just quietly, I’m just a LITTLE in LOVE with Taylor Swift’s new album, I just hope I can get a signed version of it like I got for her last album -crossing my digits- XXASAB

Snake Charmer

October 24, 2010 § 20 Comments

Just a quick post before I go back to my exam revision coma! Check out this new snake ring I picked up on Saturday! Can you actually believe it’s from Prouds? That and Michael Hill’s are my jewellery go-to-stores, I know, some jewellery snobs might turn their noses up at anything other than Tiffany’s or Bulgari but I’m shoddy when it comes to precious jewellery, I’ve lost countless rings, broke too many watches (including my Gucci Signoria). It’s been a sunny, spring week in Melbourne and I’m actually embracing it. I’ve been wearing some of my new designs with trusty, old favourites.Bow back dress: My own design

Bag makeover and a not-so-spring outfit

October 20, 2010 § 18 Comments

So the mercury sunk to a rather miserable 15 degrees earlier in the week and it normally would be fine if I didn’t have have to wear my summer uniform! Though it did give me a chance to try out a new oufit idea and this shrunken sweater. This was actually my mum’s really old sweater that shrunk in the wash, it’s just perfect for this slightly 50′s/ 60′s outfit. Despite it been short enough not to be tucked into my skirt, I still tucked the ribbing in just because it looked a litte awkward with the bow on the skirt.Sweater: Mum’s
Skirt: My own design
Tights: Wolford
Shoes: BonBon
Bag: Alexander Wang
Pearls: Vintage
Scarf: Bargain store
Gloves: Ports 1961
Lace bow: My own design
I’ve always wanted to do one of those ‘what’s in your handbag’ posts but since I use my school bag 5/7 days a week the list would have been long and boring (last week’s sandwich anybody?), thanks to Borne Naked bag liners I finally have the perfect excuse! When this lovely pink tissue paper stuffed package arrived I was just couldn’t wait to participate in their handbag make over challange.I change my bags a lot, everyday sometimes on weekends to make up for my school bag and sometimes it can be quite the mess.I usually carry around my wallet, phone, itouch, USB, keys, a small visual diary, stationary of some sort, hand cream, mints/candy, lipgloss and or lip tint, hand sanitiser, mirror, Dior compact, and my emergency kit of medical and girl stuff. As you can imagine it takes quite a to switch bags but not with this bag liner! Not only does it make my weekend mornings easier, it also protects the suede inside of my Bayswater from spills. And I can squash a mag in too! Thanks Borne Naked !
I don’t do music mondays or whatever but I love this song! So uh.. Mid-week music sharing? Right now besides this song below, I’m also loving Joy Formidable, New Young Pony Club and sadly been caught dancing to Miley Cyrus’ Who Owns My Heart, yes, sorry world.
Crave you by Flight Facilities ft Giselle
What about you? What new(or old) music are you loving this week?

A new outfit and some colour lovin’

October 17, 2010 § 12 Comments

The weather had (note, past tense, it was hailing a quarter of a hour ago) been so lovely, perfect spring weather of 24*C, nice and sunny and it was finally warm enough to wear these wedges (I missed them so much)! I decided to pair it with some clashing prints and a lovely gold cardigan my aunt gave me.Dress(worn as top): Lovelygirl
Skirt: My own design
Wedges: Nikolita
Bracelets: Gifts
Cardigan: Label’s been cut off
Watch: Swatch
Necklace: Swarovski
Bag: Vintage/mum’s
I’ve always been a little close minded when it came to colour, black and gray dominate my wardrobe ( when I say I have a rainbow of cardigans I mean a really muted rainbow possibly through colour blind eyes ie. several shades of gray) but I’ve been dabbing in some more colourful clothes like colour theme challenge (though, I did do a grey theme) a post or two below. I got these delightful silk scarves to add a lovely and quaint touch to any outfitThis one is a lot bigger and perfect belted for a vest lookI know the scarves aren’t super colourful but these socks are! Went a little crazy here but they are so good to just lounge around the house in or with some plain shoes for a fun pop of colour. What about you? Any new additions to your wardrobes?

October “I want” list

October 12, 2010 § 8 Comments

Sick again, argh. Every single year, I get really sick in spring, it’s the combination of hayfever and the sudden temperature changes that make me ill. But you know what makes it better? Online window shopping. Today’s I want list is brought to you by several anti-decongestants and lemon tea.
Simple belts like this Chloe chain and leather belt

Or this YSL Y beltWillow  cage body suit: I actually saw this on Alexandra Agoston at a DJ’s event and even though I’m not a huge fan of her, I loved this bodysuit.Alaia boots:Miu Miu pumps: They look so much better without the little feet coverings that were in the showMissoni thigh highs: Like a modest Dita Von TeeseCarven back to front cardigan: Interesting huh?Halston wrap dress: Classic, for summerStephen Dweck ring: To match the dressTibi lace shorts: Diptyque Baies candle: Wouldn’t be able to smell them with my blocked nose but they sound fantastic “blackcurrant and Bulgarian rose, evoking the scent of a green riverside garden” hmmmmmPictures: Net-a-porter, Barney’s and Saks.

Dressing with a colour theme

October 7, 2010 § 14 Comments

I did it, 4 days of colour themes before reverting back to school uniform, I was going to do 5 days (red on wednesday) but it got unseasonably cold and I had a photoshoot where I needed to be comfortable + warm and since I don’t own any red jackets I didn’t risk freezing!
Day 1. Pink , OK, I’m cheating a little the dress is white with pink flowers but I just wanted to wear it so much! I haven’t worn it since I made it this time last year, and since it was such a lovely day, I decided to whip it out.Dress: My Own design
Cardigan: MNG
Peeptoes: Tony Bianco
Bag: Mum’s
Bauble bracelet + Bangles: Gifted
Belt: Mum’s
Glasses: Bargain store
Headband flower: My own design
Day 2. Blue, ahhh this was a fun one, I have a few blue garments but I had to make sure they didn’t clash. The blazer is also a very un-worn item, due to the fact it creases far to easily for my liking and it’s a bit small but I had no hesitation wearing it for this.Blazer: Emerge
Top: Lovelygirl
Skirt: My own design
Bag: Prada
Scarf: Borrowed (there are Hs all over it but I don’t know if it’s Hermes)
Shoes: Christian Louboutins
Watch: Online
Day 3. Gray, well, I wasn’t going to do gray since it’s something I do accidentally from time to time anyway but the weather was a bit :S and I found this dress which I made a while ago and haven’t worn! I couldn’t help but add a tiny splash of colour with the watch (ok, fine you got me, I wouldn’t do that, I wore gray nail polish just for a day for this! But this was the only watch I could get while in a rush that day) Dress: My own design
Jacket: Borrowed
Necklace: Gift
Watch: Ebay
Tights: Ambra
Shoes: RMK
Day 4. Green, I saved green for today because it was perfect for a tea party! And also this is one of my all time favourite dresses -probably because it was the first lined dress I made and I drafted up the pattern all by my 14 year old self-.Dress: My own design
Cardigan: Capture
Shoes: Sogui Eli Giorgia
Bag: Vintage
Scarf: Borrowed
Headband: My own design
Ring: My own design
Watches and bangles: Online
Hope I’ve inspired you to try this sometime too!
