Graduate

Guess what? I’ve officially graduated!
My school does things a little differently and we get our certificates at Valedictory before we sit our final exams since we’ve passed our School Assessed Course work we’ve all technically passed (also we’ve theorised it’s partly so we’re not distracted by the hard to ignore thought of “what do I wear?”). It was a gorgeous night where we all reflected on the years past and celebrated!
With my mum
Confused a lot of people with my dress who thought the front of my dress was just glued on. Hehe

To class of 2011,
You are all amazing, thank you for the memories and from the wise wise mouth of Taylor Swift:
Long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming, long live the look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders, one day we will be remembered
Hold on to spinning around
Confetti falls to the ground
May these memories break or fall
And you take a moment
Promise me this
That you’ll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in
And force us into a goodbye
If you have children someday
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name
Tell them how the crowds went wild
Tell them how I hope they shine

With this chillier weather, it’s easy to just ditch the skirts and blouses in favour of warmer, cuddlier gear. But, cooler weather does not mean bringing out your man-sized sweats/trackies and ugg boots, it’s easy be warm and still show you possess feminine flair (unless you’re a dude, in which case, no, you don’t need to go all Marc Jacobs on me, thanks). Tights, gloves, berets and coats are my absolute favourite winter warmers! Cooler weather also means lots of bright makeup - I can finally wear make up to school since for terms 2,3 and 4, year 12s have the wonderful privilege of not having to wear uniform- light dusting of highlighter on your cheeks, some bright eyeliner or a swipe of lipstick that really pops (but please, only one at a time).
I remember ranting about it on twitter (another incentive to follow me)… I don’t think I mentioned this here: ta daaaaaaaa! I finally got some Ferragamos, back in February actually, don’t know why I didn’t post it in my ’getting ready for winter’ post…

I actually wore this to my photoshoot for a certain newspaper article -whistles- (I’ll let you know when it’s published), perfect for a typically drizzly Melbournian day. This is a great ‘throw-it-on-out-the-door’ dress, the mimco tangled necklace adds a dash of bling, the swirl pattern on the tights are perfectly fun and of course, the gloves are elegant and warm (I’m totally NOT a mittens kind of girl).

My apologies for another mash up post. I really… the correct word for is… CEEBS! I haven’t really had enough time to do really anything since most of my days are filled with holiday homework and researching for my art subjects next year. Sadly even after visiting galleries, flipping though umpteen art history books and vintage magazine I’m still completely lost when it comes to Art while my ideas for Vis Comm are piled mile high (it’s always been like that, I favour Vis Comm/Design over Art because I can never truly let myself go far enough to do exceptionally well in art)! I’ve made some simple looks for going to galleries and running around town in the stifling heat which look good paired with flats. I’ve altered my micro-pleat skirt from this post , adding a bow, and overlapping the front to create a wrap look
And a simple princess seam, peter pan collar backless dress. So happy with the way this turned out, this was my first time doing a full princess seam and I was a little worried about the fit, so I added a strip of lace.
Let’s welcome these new babes into my wardrobe, nouvelle and preloved, most of it gifted. Some cute red jellies, slightly scuffed baby darling YSL muse 2 m, striped sweater dress, boucle hair bow and PS1 style suede satchel from Zoe! Cream jellies from online and heaps of lace and embroidered trim!

OK I need a bit of help, does anyone know the name of this building in south bank? And if it’s a commercial or residential building(Though I’m guessing it’s probably an office block due to the lack of balcony)? I always see it when I’m hanging out near hamer hall and behind NGV, it’s kinda cool how the glass panels are different colours and might do a little research for Vis Comm.

I have a problem, I can’t plan an outfit too early, whenever do, my mind wonders and I subconsciously try to out do my last selections and start doubting myself, and before you know it, I’m off sketching and draping. I made 2 dresses before I reached a design I was content with for new years eve(the triple strapped dress), which I made on the morning in stifling heat because I was scared of perspiration stains on the beige dress. That’s me and c’est la vie
These are shown in the order in which I made and then outdid for many different reasons. haha!
Black bow neck dress with lace back and drape sleeves

Beige cotton sateen dress with cascade peplum, pleated sleeves and bow

Triple lace strapped backless dress with button v-neck

With all the skirts I’ve made I’m in serious lack of tops and blouses to go with them so I went for a simple tank style top in light fabrics to cope with the heat of summer.
Paint splattered low back top with ruffled jabot

Red crepe top with ruffled jabot
Check out this awesome photo I took as a bit of a behind the scenes thing. A pair of loubies for every look

For me, that is my favourite thing to say when discribing my outfit. Filled with pride, telling people that I designed or made something just makes it so much more awesome than saying it’s bought (whether it’s $10000 or $1)! I’ve been slack with outfit posts not because I’ve been walking around in my nudie pants but because I’ve been having problems with my camera SD card and it persists on needing to be formatted, flushing out all its contents. Incredibly annoying and excruciating when I’ve just taken heaps of pictures! Fortunately over the last month I’ve gathered enough for a post.

Short and sweet

It’s the last day of the holidays and I finally got my overlocker back which means I was able to finish the last of my holiday projects! I bought this adorable romper but it was too big for my liking so I altered it, added some pleats et voila!
It’s actually meant to be for sleeping in but dressed it up in a crisp blazer, quilted bag and some booties made it worthy of going out in.
Now this dress- I’ve wanted to make this for so long, it has been in my sketch books for about 2 years but I just didn’t really have the right fabric or enough patience and sewing skills. Remember that mint fabric? Well, that was totally the perfect fabric.
Back, the bow in the back keeps the straps from falling down.
With the left over fabric I made a little tunic top for sleeping in, sort of making up for the romper!

PS. I did the dress a colour a day thing for 4 days! Interesting outfit post ensues!
