Designs, oufits, and some new stuff.

My apologies for another mash up post. I really… the correct word for is…  CEEBS! I haven’t really had enough time to do really anything since most of my days are filled with holiday homework and researching for my art subjects next year. Sadly even after visiting galleries, flipping though umpteen art history books and vintage magazine I’m still completely lost when it comes to Art while my ideas for Vis Comm are piled mile high (it’s always been like that, I favour Vis Comm/Design over Art because I can never truly let myself go far enough to do exceptionally well in art)! I’ve made some simple looks for going to galleries and running around town in the stifling heat which look good paired with flats. I’ve altered my micro-pleat skirt from this post , adding a bow, and overlapping the front to create a wrap look And a simple princess seam, peter pan collar backless dress. So happy with the way this turned out, this was my first time doing a full princess seam and I was a little worried about the fit, so I added a strip of lace.Let’s welcome these new babes into my wardrobe, nouvelle and preloved, most of it gifted. Some cute red jellies, slightly scuffed baby darling YSL muse 2 m, striped sweater dress, boucle hair bow and PS1 style suede satchel from Zoe! Cream jellies from online and heaps of lace and embroidered trim! Now, onto some outfitsHeart cutout t-shirt: DIY

OK I need a bit of help, does anyone know the name of this building in south bank? And if it’s a commercial or residential building(Though I’m guessing it’s probably an office block due to the lack of balcony)? I always see it when I’m hanging out near hamer hall and behind NGV, it’s kinda cool how the glass panels are different colours and might do a little research for Vis Comm. XXASAB

“oh, I made this”

For me, that is my favourite thing to say when discribing my outfit. Filled with pride, telling people that I designed or made something just makes it so much more awesome than saying it’s bought (whether it’s $10000 or $1)! I’ve been slack with outfit posts not because I’ve been walking around in my nudie pants but because I’ve been having problems with my camera SD card and it persists on needing to be formatted, flushing out all its contents. Incredibly annoying and excruciating when I’ve just taken heaps of pictures! Fortunately over the last month I’ve gathered enough for a post.Blouse: Bardot

Bag makeover and a not-so-spring outfit

October 20, 2010 § 18 Comments

So the mercury sunk to a rather miserable 15 degrees earlier in the week and it normally would be fine if I didn’t have have to wear my summer uniform! Though it did give me a chance to try out a new oufit idea and this shrunken sweater. This was actually my mum’s really old sweater that shrunk in the wash, it’s just perfect for this slightly 50′s/ 60′s outfit. Despite it been short enough not to be tucked into my skirt, I still tucked the ribbing in just because it looked a litte awkward with the bow on the skirt.Sweater: Mum’s

I’ve always wanted to do one of those ‘what’s in your handbag’ posts but since I use my school bag 5/7 days a week the list would have been long and boring (last week’s sandwich anybody?), thanks to Borne Naked bag liners I finally have the perfect excuse! When this lovely pink tissue paper stuffed package arrived I was just couldn’t wait to participate in their handbag make over challange.I change my bags a lot, everyday sometimes on weekends to make up for my school bag and sometimes it can be quite the mess.I usually carry around my wallet, phone, itouch, USB, keys, a small visual diary, stationary of some sort, hand cream, mints/candy, lipgloss and or lip tint, hand sanitiser, mirror, Dior compact, and my emergency kit of medical and girl stuff. As you can imagine it takes quite a to switch bags but not with this bag liner! Not only does it make my weekend mornings easier, it also protects the suede inside of my Bayswater from spills. And I can squash a mag in too! Thanks Borne Naked !
I don’t do music mondays or whatever but I love this song! So uh.. Mid-week music sharing? Right now besides this song below, I’m also loving Joy Formidable, New Young Pony Club and sadly been caught dancing to Miley Cyrus’ Who Owns My Heart, yes, sorry world.

What about you? What new(or old) music are you loving this week?

4 is the magic number

As promised I sewed heaps over the holidays, mainly for my studio art project but I’ve managed to sneak 4 skirts in there for myself out of the remnants of the fabric for art!
Printed velvet circle skirt with exposed zipAnd as with all circle skirts, the obligatory twirl photoGreen crushed velvet mini with exposed zip and bowsMicro-pleat/plisse gathered skirtBlue and black lace skirt (this was actually by stitching together several meters of lace trim)Speaking of art project, I do have a little sneak peak of the shoot I did last week! That dress is one of my favourite designs now(obviously without the silver feature, that’s more of a symbolic thing for my theme, it is entirely removable), it’s made to Bianca’s measurements so I’ll have to shed my winter jiggly bits haha!XXASAB

Bordeaux Lace Skirt

August 22, 2010 § 9 Comments

I was in love with Dolce and Gabbana’s Spring summer 10 collection, the underwear as outerwear, lace and net combination sent me into a frenzy.

After extensive searching, I’m still looking for a perfect underwear as outerwear body suit but I have found a perfect lace skirt! Well to be more precise, in true Angela fashion, I made it!.

It’s the piece I’ve made since my LBD! I’ve been stuck under the avalanche of homework and because of setting and packing up time involved in sewing it’s not something I can do everyday anymore. I was so excited, I decided to wear it today!

With a cashmere cardigan, simple tee, Mimco necklace, Lanvin chain flats, Alex Wang Coco, simple watch and ring!

Get ready for next weekend folks, because I’m having a wardrobe cleanout! I’m not sure whether to just do it all on ebay or just use my blog. What do you think? Also! I might be doing a little tweaking and ASAB might go under the knife for a facelift or some botox, a brighter, more simple layout could do both you (as readers) and me some good.

PS. Why yes, I did get a haircut!  2.5 inches off and it’s also been thinned out, such a relief! It actually use to hurt my neck when wet it in the shower, that’s how insanely thick my hair was! But I also sort of miss it, just a tad ;)

Newly acquired

August 10, 2010 § 13 Comments

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; there is nothing like the feeling of putting new stuff in your wardrobe. I like to think of my wardrobe as a house and all my garments as family members, making room and introducing new pieces to the old ones, putting them with others and hope they get along… Nah, that sounds insane, but could you imaging though? If clothes could talk , what would they say? Plaid skirt to polka dot top “sorry man, we’re over, it’s not you it’s me, I’ve been unfaithful with the white shirt, but you and those shorts look real good together” (wow, that sounds even more bat shit crazy). Moving on, I made a trip to Savers a while back and for once, I wasn’t disappointed! I found this lovely black lace dress with a nice, low U-back.

And a velvet jacket (great canvas to work on, I’m thinking a good altering so it’s more snug, white trim and new buttons?)

My aunt also recently visted us and HMDed these darlings, they’re a tad worn and a little big small but designer shoes are still designer shoes.

Nude Louboutins (Gotta get the black rubber heel bits replaced)

Black chain Lanvins (the bottoms quite worn and they’re surprisingly heavy but they look so good!)

Have you bought/acquired anything awesome lately?

PS. My laptop’s got a virus! So I’ve moved everything onto the desktop and it’s just not the same :( It’ll take a day or two for me to re-adjust to Vista after using 7.

PPS. Like my drawing?
