LMFF 2010

Every year for the past 3 years we’ve gone and we’ve been disappointed with our squint seats (you have to squint or have a really good camera to see the clothes); with the only thing raising our spirits being the celebrities and models we meet. This year, Doutzen wasn’t here, I didn’t get to yell out ‘Miranda Otto i love you’ (yes, to Miranda Otto) and we sat further back than ever despite booking as early as ever, the seating arrangement was very different due to the ‘one sided’ catwalk, meaning everyone was squished to the other side. I did however get excited about seeing some amazing street style and bump into some bloggers. There were a few ensembles that were memorable, one being the gorgeous girl in the magenta jumpsuit and the other being (possibly dion lee’s girlfriend) wearing a stunning pair of these, blue scuba skirt and a sheer blouse. But I did get to say a quick hello to Lady Melbourne , spoke with Hayley a few times, and sat next to the gorgeous Little Black Book (but couldn’t get any pictures because there were several exits so the ‘wait out the front’ thing didn’t work out so well, and my friends wanted dinner afterwards). Speaking of beautiful people Annika Kaban was strutting her stuff on the catwalk again this year, gosh I love this girl, I wonder why she’s not up there with Abbey Lee, Cat Mac and Skye? She’s just as gorgeous and looks as versatile. She needs a big campaign or cover, fast! Oh and we saw Cassi Van Den Dungen… Boy, was I surprised… I’d never watched ANTM I’ve only seen her pictures from the papers and website that reported on her ‘bogan behaviour’. It took us the whole duration of the show to realise it was indeed her! I think she was picked up by her mum at the end of the show, actually 3 or 4 models were picked up by a parent or guardian, ‘naw cute’! Anyway, even though I’d seen some of the collections -Collette Dinnigan showed in Paris a few weeks ago, Sass and Bide showed in London and last month, Toni Maticevski also showed in NY it was still a good experience. Moreover, I did grow fond of the bi-colour chanel-esque tights, I think they were Lavante, I’ve got to get my hands on some before autumn really hits us!
This year again, I went with my two best friends Lisa and Bianca, who both looked amazing and thanks to Bianca we also got some amazing photos!
We tried out hand at some ‘jakandjil’ style photos. Ha, I think that’s best left to Tommy Ton.
Then we had dinner at one of the overpriced restaurants next to central pier.

Who gave birth to Romance?
May 1, 2009 § 2 Comments
Luke and Anna of course! The Australian Galiano(s) released an alluring and ethereal, water inspired collection, complete with seashells and a harp playing mermaid. I have never been a fan of Romance Was Born, but this collection made me change my mind. I everything, from the colours, the revamped RMK shoes to the crazy knitted beards.

PS. This does not mean I want anything to do with the RMB for Sportsgirl collection.
PPS. How hot were the models? Where have they been hiding? Why didn’t they walk instead of the fugly, galloping girls at LMFF?

Let me give you a play by play:
Around 4:45 I finally arrive home from a tiring day at school, to avoid looking gross and sweaty i jumping in and had the fasted shower ever (3minutes49 seconds) only to realise I’ve worked up a sweat getting dressed. While I was putting the contents of my normal bag into my little Prada handbag (the poor thing was over-stuffed with my phone, wallet, camera, flats, stockings, my makeup bag which contains pretty much the whole clinque counter and enough band-aids and panadols for a nice strong army of 1000), Bianca came over ‘franicking’(franticly panicking) about that colour stockings she should wear, black? Or white? After about 10 minutes of “hmm are you sure?”s we finally left the house.
On the train both Lisa and Bianca were bagless and decide it was going to be a wonderful idea to empty out the contents of their abnormally large pockets into my little bag. When we got off we got the train we got so many “WTF are you wearing?” stares, Bianca said “This is the equivalent of wearing a panda suit” quite true…
By 6pm we were already at the peninsular pier, there were as many badly dressed people to balance out the junior editors, fashion editors, models and bloggers. Pretty much as soon as we arrived we were asked for photos, from Grazia Bounty Hunter, Sony and Hayley. Ahh my hours of sitting in front of the sewing machine making that tutu skirt finally paid off. When we went in we anxiously waited for the c/d list celebrities, b list editors and a list model to arrive. I would yelp every time one of them walked in and get weird stares from people, except for whe Doutzen walked in, all three of us make strange sounds that resembled puppies and the (really good looking) guy in front of us said “oh it’s Doutzen”(and he even pronounced it right), we looked at him and were astonished that he knew who she was. The show obviously started 15 minutes late and we were watching l’oreal ads on loop on the projector screens.
I’m don’t think I was a fan of any of the clothes except for J’aton Couture, which was pretty amazing. After the show we sprinted up to the first row and said “hi” to Doutzen, to our surprised she actually remembered us, she was so nice and kind, chatted with us, asked how we were and took a photo. Even though the photo came out reallllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad (my hair/bangs were parted weirdly) and 99% of Bianca’s head was chopped off we were still really happy about it.
We hung around the Pier long enough for some editor and model spotting, I awkwardly waved to Christine Centenera and she awkwardly waved back. To our surprise we got asked to be in a few more photos (Vice, some girl’s project). Then we met Kat George from stylelines, caught up with Hayley (fashion Hayley), and went to the fish bar for some good ol’ fish and chips. Hayley is so lovely and inspirational; she gave us some really priceless tips about future in the fashion and blogging world, so thanks Hayley. Oh and also, thanks for giving us a lovely mention on your blog!
Keep an eye out for me in Grazia, Melbourne street fashion, Vice, Sony Cyber Shot (grazia website)!
