Hawt and cold
November 8, 2010 § 20 Comments
Melbourne weather makes it interesting dressing in the morning, whenever you think “oh, it’s going to be to hot/cold to wear that” it decides prove you wrong. Remember this velvet jacket from a while back? And how I wore it even though I was pretty set on never wearing it unless I altered it ? Well I finally altered it and added a white trim. Now it’s like the weirdest ( aka MOST PERFECT) combination of Blair waldorf and indie/hipster.

Spring comes aknockin’

Dispite the flood fears and heavy rain yesterday it was still deliciously warm and I decided to bring out my spring dresses. I surprisingly haven’t layered any of them over thermals much this past winter as I usually do, it has very much been a ‘skirt + jacket’ winter!

Splashes of red

The sun has been gracing us more often with it’s presence (well not today exactly) and what better way to celebrate than with colour?! I’m aware (I was so close to cracking a ‘aWEAR’ pun… ha) that I’ll never to vintage as well as Super Kawaii Mama, Lady Melbourne and Esme&thelaneway but I can just could not help but to pull an ensemble with a 50′s feel. I’ve wanted to wear this skirt so much but it’s so hard to wear it with flats because it’s very full and actually on the long side for me (you can’t tell here since I’m wearing it with platforms and I’ve rolled it up)! Finding the right top and accessories for this skirt has also been harder than I expected, when ever I make something I have an image of exactly what I want to wear with it, for this, it was a grey boat neck top with lace and bow collar detail, spotty tights (they came to me in a dream, no kidding!), platform t-bars and a grey crew neck cardigan with a cute sweater clip and a leopard print envelope clutch. As you can see, I didn’t quite get there but I tried!

Winter Favourites
July 18, 2010 § 7 Comments
Every once in a while I like to peer into storage and see if there’s anything I would throw out or bring back into my daily repertoire. I rediscovered my black fleece cape, purple jacket, cork heeled patent slingbacks, mustard dress and leaf print skirt. All of which I wore heaps during last winter (especially the mustard dress, I may only have a few posts of it but wow, I wore it nearly every second day!) I decided to bring them all back, mixed them up with some new accessories and designs.

Who wears short shorts?
April 7, 2010 § 11 Comments
I normally wouldn’t, unless they’re high waisted or I’m working out… Low slung, threadbare, denim ‘pocket shorts’ (shorts so short that you can see the end of the pockets?) are deeply unflattering on any one with a BMI higher than 19, even so they have to be worn right. I have one pair of high waisted shorts but they’re rather uncomfortable and a bit too tight, so I set out to make another!
Velvet button detail
I love them paired with a blazer, Loubies, and Bayswater.
I just wish I put some pockets in them, there’s always next time.

April “I want” list
March 25, 2010 § 9 Comments
Ahhh it’s the holidays and what better way to celebrate than making a “I want” list. Wow, I can’t believe this is the first one for the year, considering I spent days on end on net-a-porter!
Rick Owens leather jacket – The weather is thankfully cooling down and my old leather jacket is just a bit too thick
Roberto Cavalli snake bangle – The facination with animal jewelery continues!
Judith Leiber clutch – Too cute!
Tom Binns necklace – OTT version of a sweater clip
Maison Martin Margiela belt – To toughen up girly skirts
Fishnet and stud Louboutins – need I say anything?
Miu Miu cage platforms – perfect nude pumps!
Vanessa Bruno cape – This will solve dressing for weird autumn weather
Red Valentino t-shirt – Think I might skip the $300 and just DIY this one
