Prefall 2012, Sketched
December 11, 2011 § 13 Comments
I know it’s been so long since I last posted my sketches, I guess I just don’t feel as comfortable sharing them as I use to. I thought of a way to show less personal sketches and talk about the prefall collections; by sketching my favourites!
Oscar De La Renta
Donna Karan
Carolina Herrera
Zac Posen
Jason Wu

Back from my little hiatus!
February 11, 2011 § 26 Comments
Hello lovelies! Sorry about my little unannounced break, school’s been absorbing every ounce of energy left and frankly I’ve got no motivation to sew or design what so ever, on top of that, I’ve been wearing uniform for the past week! Fret not though, the weather has been strange lately (cold, hot, then humid -all in one day-) so that’s helped me conjured up some interesting outfits!
Sweater dress: Gifted
Peplum jacket: My own design
OTK socks: Levante (I think)
Belt: Vintage
Pashmina: India (thanks Harriet)
Dress: Vintage Leona Edminston, altered by me
Jacket: My own design
Shoes: Vintage but I added the bow
Ring: ASOS
Belt: My own design
Bangle: Ebay
Bag: Zoee
Sailor Bustier: Kmart (lol)
Skirt: My own design
Cape: My own design
Necklace: Gifted
Shoes: Rivers
Watch: Online
How have you all been? The big four fashion weeks (NY, London, Milan, Paris) have just started, I can’t wait for Zac Posen, ODLR, Marchesa, Mary Katrantzou, Moschino, Dolce and Lanvin. Which shows are you most looking forward to?

Golden Globes and Pre-Fall Shows
January 20, 2011 § 13 Comments
Thanks everyone for the mostly positive response on my latest DIY. Who know’s? I might do some more! I’ve been feeling super slack about blogging lately, I haven’t really collated enough to make a post in any category but I’m eager to do a post so forgive me if this seems a little all over the place. I could have done a ‘show review’ or ‘golden globes’ post but let’s MISH MASH! I’ve finally caught up with all the Pre-Fall shows, I mean it’s ABOUT TIME, Couture season is in a few weeks! I am head over heels in love with Valentino, hello, why was there no Valentino at the Golden Globes?
Monique Lhuillier was surprisingly glorious, it had just the right amount of colour and patterns.
And finally Jason Wu, again surprised I didn’t see many on the red carpet but Oscars is soon so maybe then? There was some really gorgeous and tactful colour blocking, and very wearable but not at all commercial looking.
Also worth mentioning was Oscar de la Renta (good old ODLR is always fantastic) and Erdem for the most divine blue lace dress! I can really see that on Blair Waldorf, are you listening Eric Daman?
Moving on, Golden Globes: Nothing was really outstanding but I liked Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde.
January Jones has a ripping body so she looks good in everything, whether the fashion tape factory had to shut down in order to supply her with enough tape to hold that dress put is still unclear.
Natalie Portman is pregnant and no one really can diss a pregnant woman so now’s the only time she can wear pink and red together and go her for cashing in on the opportunity!
Christina hendricks who usually look fantastic looked like she had a growth coming out of her shoulder.
And drum roll for the biggest disappointment of the night: Emma Stone, who you know I just adore to bits but the ILLUSION IS SHATTERED! Look, when you’re wearing coral and it blends in with your skin, there is something majorly wrong with your tan and your hair is lighter. She NEEDED a statement necklace, belt or even a BROOCH for goodness sake to break it all up! However the backless/cut out so that’s a slight plus for me.
Who was your favourite? At the pre-fall shows and the Globes?

Balmain S/S10
October 2, 2009 § 2 Comments
I held my breath as I clicked the the “Balmain” link on style.it (style.com was behind, what do you do when the Americans are being slow? You turn to he French or Italians!), expecting a bad collection because of all this ‘Balmain vs Balenciaga’ talk (Balenciaga supposedly won, but I didn’t really like it so I was expecting the worst). Also I do generally expect a bad season after every few good seasons. Like this season; Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Prada and Zac Posen all delivered collections that were not up to their usual standard.
I was delightfully surprised and breathed a sigh of relieve when the pictures loaded! It was just good old Balmain like we’ve been seeing for the past few seasons. Sexy, strong, but with a good splash of feminine! And my favourite ‘oldy, but goldy’ model Daria Werbowy opened(yes, I know she’s only 26 but she’s been on the scene long enough to be considered a oldy). There wasn’t anything ground breaking but that’s ok, because we love the Balmain look!

Best and worst
September 17, 2008 § 1 Comment
Best of ss09 New York fashion week:
It was tough but I’ll have to say it’s a toss between Marchesa and Oscar De La Renta.
Marchesa was so beautiful I nearly cried. Really, I cannot stop looking at it. I have a picture of the collection on my wall, my mobile background picture is a cropped picture of a Marchesa white Grecian gown and my laptop background is also from the collection. Georgina Chapman is such a talented designer, her gowns have the perfect balance of femininity and creativity. This ss09 collection had some great Asian influences, but I can’t help but associate it to Dior…
Oscar De La Renta has never disappointed me. Never! This collection is so fresh and girly, the floral print is so pretty. I loved the one piece swimsuits and the skirts with the odd flounce, not forgetting the clinched in waist. Hmmmm… and all the models looked so fresh and fabulous, even Behati Prinsloo and Agyness Dyne. One day, one day I’ll be ‘the new Oscar De La Renta.
Worst
Hands down, for me Ralph Lauren disappointed me like Miuccia Prada disappointed me in FW07. The Moroccan theme did not work, Ralph Lauren for me, is classic, very feminine and sometimes sculptural. This was too earthy, too safari and all over too ‘rough’. Yes, I know there were gowns and dress but the collection didn’t engage me. And what was the deal with the turban?
Honorable mentions
Carolina Herrera
Tory Burch
