My Sartorial Life Through Instagram

September 25, 2012 § 7 Comments

Instagram is the stuff of wonders, but my admitted addiction has cause me to forget the importance of posting here! I must say, I use to be quite elitist about Instagrams and ‘mirror selfies’ but my friends have converted me and I really must say it is a lot of fun and a whole lot easier than hauling my Nikon out, setting it up and doing my outfit posts every morning (especially in winter when I’d hardly be able to get any good lighting before or after work) and the filters are pretty forgiving when it comes to lighting and focus. So here’s just a glimpse of my sartorial life through Instagram:
A bit of outfit planning
Cherry Red lipstick to brighten up a B&W day(Bamboo skirt by me)
Adorable new sweater and jewelry printed skirt by meEnjoying the first peek of spring sunshine and loving mum’s Equipment blouse (she’s not loving that I’m rolling around the lawn in it)New Buys!Striped sweater and new patterned tightsBasically the first time in months I’ve worn my cardigan NOT buttoned up the backSpeaking of backwards cardigans. With bright pink blazer, dotty jeans and embellished nude Mary Janes
Look! EYES! Slowly converting to a contacts girlMetallic detail on my new dressCamel coat, ecru hat, gold heeled wedges, lace dress, tied star blouse and vintage Sunglasses. Find equally fabulous sunglasses and glasses at Vision Direct.

Exams 1,2 and 3

“Not saying I will but if I were to ever fail a subject, I’d at least want to look good doing so” was my mantra for the whole of year 12. I’m proud to say even on my worst days I never, ever went to school looking like I just rolled out of bed (or so I was told) Fashion is so uplifting, even if I pulled an allnighter sketching or revising I didn’t let it show by turning up to school looking like I did.

Mimco: An Unpredictable Revolution

August 15, 2010 § 19 Comments

Not too long ago Mimco launch Part Deux of the  ‘An Unpredictable Revolution’ collection featuring the beautiful Emma Balfour. I was lucky enough to be selected and sent one of their delightful pieces! This collection is the story torn from the pages of a dark debutante’s diary…Taking inspiration from the 1700s – 1800s, it embodies the romance and darkness of the era. This is one of the stories:

‘Darkness Becomes Her’

There once lived a curious, carefree,  girl. The kind to wear super colourful outfits, wore plaits and walk around with grazed knees. One day she stumbled upon a book…

But my oh my! It wasn’t just a book, there was something hidden inside!

There was a pouch, a sealed letter, a key and a picture of a beautiful girl!

She then opened the pouch to see a beautiful necklace of tangled stones and chain. It was the most beautiful thing she had  ever seen!

But little did she know this necklace had magical powers when she put it on. With a swish and a swosh…s

She was transformed!

Her old colourful clothes were gone, and in their place was a long flowing black velvet gown and suede shoes. Lipstick magically appeared on her lips.

It an unpredictable revolution, and she liked it ;)

Fin.

Thanks mimco :) ! Everyone, go, check out the gorgeous collection and experience the unpredictable revolution for yourselves!

Outfit notes – Pre-Rev: Self decorated K-mart tank, wool vintage skirt, online jellies

                  – Post-Rev: Angela Yang Designs gown, Sogui eli giorgia cut out pumps

Who wears short shorts?

April 7, 2010 § 11 Comments

I normally wouldn’t, unless they’re high waisted or I’m working out… Low slung, threadbare, denim ‘pocket shorts’ (shorts so short that you can see the end of the pockets?) are deeply unflattering on any one with a BMI higher than 19, even so they have to be worn right. I have one pair of high waisted shorts but they’re rather uncomfortable and a bit too tight, so I set out to make another!

Velvet button detail ;)

I love them paired with a blazer, Loubies, and Bayswater.

I just wish I put some pockets in them, there’s always next time.

Hello twenty ten!

January 3, 2010 § 15 Comments

I rang in the new decade with my friends Bianca and Lisa. We had an absolute blast, starting off with dinner at Meshiya (actually it started off with running a km in searing hot weather wearing heels, only just making it onto the train and then being forced off it because of an air-con malfunction, but hey! POSITIVES!), a contemplative cab ride about going to the The Salty Dog (ended up with “YES! Let’s go!” But it was closed, HA!) then, sing (midnight rendition of Taylor Swift’s Fifteen anyone?) and dancing our way ’til 40 seconds until 2010.

Yes, that was my christmas present…

One of my favourite pictures of the night

Probably the worst attempt at covering up my face, ever. I don’t think it crossed my mine that you can see through glass then.
